| Abstract: We all hear that the world is getting
smaller. It's been said that in the 21st century,
we can expect that creativity and wealth will
flow from knowledge. And that knowledge will be
shared through networks. There are many practical
issues in developing effective online video classes,
which extensively involved in using video and
Internet in delivering language classes. But how
do teachers adopt video tech-nology in classes?
How can the program be set up and what tools should
be used? If we want to do it, we can do it. We
can easily do online video teaching program. The
modern technology can be adopted in classes without
great cost provided that teachers are properly
trained. The various visual and auditory online
course materials can be developed and used by
every teacher for the language classes. |

Setting Online Video Program for the Class
|
¡¡¡¡Online education refers to any form of teaching
that takes place via a computer network.The
network could be a local bulletin board system
or it could be the global Internet and World
Wide Web. In a common online class, the instructor's
lecture is replaced by notes. The lecture notes
therefore need to be both stimulating and in£formative
thereby replacing instructor. To do this, standard
outlines of course materials or PowerPoint presentations
are boring, repetitive and likely will not hold
a student's interest for long time. Just like
the traditional teaching, in a video program,
the quality of the lecture depends significantly
on the instructor. For example the mood of the
instructor, how they are feeling. Students in
an online class can control and manage their
study time and attention to the lectures at
their own pace.

¡¡As we all know, English teaching has seen more
than 50 years in China and some English textbooks
have been published. These books have played so
important a role in pushing Chinese college students'
English level. However, with any set of English
books, we always hear complaints from the students
who seem to be increasingly demanding. On the
other hand, some materials are disconnected with
the situations the students are living in. As
a result, the students feel they are learning
something far away from their life and when they
graduate and enter some company to start their
work, they find what they have learned in school
cannot be used at all. They wonder why some materials
are so outdated and inapplicable. The following
are some courses, which I did in the past few
years.
¡¡Obviously, these programs are connected with
the situations the students are living in and
the courses are usually intended for the English
learners who have already had adequate ability
in English listening, reading and writing.

Idea of Online Video Teaching
| ¡¡¡¡¡¡Online learning and teaching has increasingly
become an essential component in college today.
But it's hard for English teachers to use the
suitable video program. And it's also difficult
for Non-English teachers to do the suitable video
program. As an English teacher, I have made some
research on online teaching for seven years in
China. And the process will include collection
of relevant experience, ideas, and plans. In the
past seven years I took lectures on online video
teaching in China to many English teachers and
I think it is possible to give online video teaching.
My idea of online video teaching is that "Do
